The Partnership Alignment Evaluation is an important first step in determining whether Lenard Crafted Homes is the right fit for you. Building a custom home is a significant investment and a collaborative process, so alignment matters. Through conversations about your vision, priorities, investment expectations, and decision-making process, we learn what matters most to you while giving you a clear understanding of how we work. The goal is mutual alignment from the start, creating the foundation for a productive partnership and an exceptional building experience.

Pre-Construction Service Agreement

Your World-Class Building Experience begins with an Elevated Agreement. Our team will assemble a thoughtful, collaborative group of professionals, starting with an architect or designer who aligns with your family’s values and vision. Bringing the team together early creates a seamless design journey and allows important decisions around design, wellness, construction, and investment to be addressed from the start.

At Lenard Crafted Homes, we work closely with your architectural team to ensure your home includes both beautiful design and the vital “backstage” features that support a Healthy Home. During this phase, our in-house Building Biologist reviews your plans through the lens of wellness, offering personalized insight into allergies, sensitivities, toxin exposure, and other health considerations. Addressing these details early helps minimize costly changes and delays later.

As your design takes shape, we develop a preliminary budget to keep your vision and investment aligned. Once construction documents are complete, we move into detailed estimating, defining how each space will be constructed and finished to create a comprehensive, tailored proposal for your home.

This integrated approach provides greater clarity and confidence before construction begins, while solidifying your design, investment, and place in our production schedule.

Your World-Class Experience continues with a dedicated project manager guiding you through production, keeping you connected through a personalized portal with updates, photos, and behind-the-scenes insight. While your project manager is your main contact, our entire team works diligently to ensure every detail meets the highest standard as we move through the key milestones of building your new home.

Warranty

Now that you’re settling into your new home, our commitment continues well beyond the final walkthrough. To ensure you feel confident and supported, we schedule follow-up visits at 3, 6, and 12 months to handle any touch-ups or adjustments. Your project manager will coordinate each walkthrough, addressing every detail with care. Keep a running list as you live in your home- we’ll take care of it at no charge. Vanessa Von Dohlen

Director of Finance

For Vanessa, the Texas Hill Country has always felt like home. Although she was born in Houston, her family traded the fast pace of city life for the quiet charm of the Hill Country, where she grew up and graduated from Center Point High School before settling in Kerrville.

Vanessa’s introduction to the construction industry began while she was earning her undergraduate degree, working for a local home builder. What started as a college job quickly developed into a career she was passionate about.

After completing her master’s degrees, she returned to construction accounting and has spent more than 15 years helping construction companies strengthen their financial operations, improve processes, and support sustainable growth. Before joining LCH, she served as CFO for multiple Hill Country businesses, focusing primarily on commercial construction.

Vanessa had known Craig for years, and over time they often joked about the day she would come work at LCH. When the opportunity finally presented itself, she felt confident it was where God was leading her next.

Today, as Director of Finance, Vanessa oversees the company’s accounting and financial operations, helping provide the strong financial foundation that supports every custom home and every client experience. While she enjoys the strategic side of finance, it’s the culture of Lenard Crafted Homes that truly drew her in. She was looking for more than just another position; she wanted to be part of a team that values people, faith, and relationships above all else.

Outside of the office, Vanessa’s greatest joy is being a mom to her daughter. Whether she’s spending time with family, tackling a CrossFit workout, or going for a run, she believes in living life with purpose, balance, and gratitude.

Colten Drake

Estimator

Colten serves as our Estimator, bringing strong analytical expertise and a deep understanding of financial and project metrics to our team. Born and raised in the Texas Hill Country, Colten attended Tivy High School before continuing his education at Texas State University, where he earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration.

During his time at Texas State, Colten also played collegiate baseball, an experience that strengthened his discipline, teamwork, and commitment to excellence, qualities he brings to his work each day.

Colten has a natural ability to quickly digest complex numbers and translate them into accurate estimates and informed procurement decisions. His attention to detail and strategic thinking help ensure projects are well planned, cost efficient, and positioned for success from the very beginning.

Mark Isham

Project Manager

Long before Mark Isham stepped into a leadership role on job sites, he was learning the trade alongside his father. Growing up in Round Rock, Texas, construction was more than just a career path—it was part of everyday life. Whenever he wasn’t in school, Mark could be found on framing crews, gaining firsthand experience and developing a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and discipline that go into building a home.

Although he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports & Exercise Science with a minor in Business from Tarleton State University, construction never drifted far from his heart. In 2015, Mark and his father co-founded Informed Building Consultants, where he spent years helping builders improve their homes through inspections and consulting. His work focused on framing, advanced building practices, energy efficiency, plumbing and electrical systems, and identifying water intrusion issues—giving him a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to build homes that stand the test of time.

Eventually, Mark found his way to the Texas Hill Country, drawn to the close-knit community and slower pace of life that reminded him of his college years in Stephenville. Today, as Project Manager at Lenard Crafted Homes, he brings that wealth of technical knowledge and practical experience to every project, overseeing construction with precision and an unwavering commitment to quality.

For Mark, however, what makes Lenard Crafted Homes truly special extends beyond the homes themselves. He values the company’s dedication to putting God first and fostering a culture rooted in faith, integrity, and servant leadership. Surrounded by a team that shares those values, Mark continues to grow both professionally and spiritually while helping families bring their dream homes to life.

Before Payton ever stepped into a marketing role, she was already learning what it meant to lead with creativity and purpose. A strong sense of community and a desire to do meaningful work have shaped her from the start. One of her earliest influences was Craig Lenard – now a leader at Lenard Crafted Homes – who served as her high school agriculture teacher. He encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone, think creatively, and pursue challenges with confidence. His belief in her potential planted seeds that would later grow into something lasting.

Payton went on to earn her degree in communications from Texas Tech University, where she discovered a passion for crafting messages that connect – visually and emotionally – with an audience. Whether leading student projects, producing visual campaigns, or collaborating with peers, she honed her ability to translate big ideas into clear, compelling stories.

When the opportunity arose to join LCH, it felt more like a continuation than a beginning. With her background in brand development and storytelling, paired with her early connection to Craig and a deep respect for the company’s faith-first foundation, Payton found herself exactly where she was meant to be.

At LCH, she’s found the opportunity to use her creativity to serve a greater purpose – sharing a brand built on faith, integrity, and craftsmanship. From digital strategy and branding to community outreach and storytelling, Payton is passionate about reflecting the values that set LCH apart and making sure the heart behind the work is never lost.

When Micaela moved to the Hill Country in 2019, she soon found herself in the building materials industry, where she supported contractors and customers at a local lumber company. It was there she discovered that understanding people – what they need, what they care about, and how to support them well- was her true skill set.

Her ability to connect, communicate, and create order made her a natural fit when the opportunity to join Lenard Crafted Homes came along. As Office Manager, Micaela is often the first voice people hear and the steady hand behind the scenes. She keeps operations flowing, but more importantly, she helps build the team culture LCH is known for.

“Even though we’re not blood, we’re all connected,” she says. “Lenard Crafted Homes feels like family – everyone here has each other’s back.” That belief shows up in how she works every day: with warmth, dependability, and a deep care for the people around her.

Curtis has always had a strong sense of purpose and a hands-on approach to learning. From an early age, he was involved in his family’s business – building and selling wildlife feeders – and later worked for a hunting outfitter while earning his degree. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2023, carrying with him a steady work ethic and a growing curiosity for custom homebuilding.

His first experiences in construction included helping with small finish-out jobs and building a barn – projects that sparked an interest in seeing ideas come to life. Wanting to pursue that passion, Curtis reached out to Craig Lenard, who had once been his high school agriculture teacher. That familiar connection – rooted in respect and mentorship – led to an opportunity to join Lenard Crafted Homes, where Curtis is now a Project Manager.

What stood out to him immediately was the team’s support and willingness to share knowledge. “You never feel alone with the LCH team,” he says. “Everyone’s willing to help – and always striving to build with the best practices.” With a solid foundation, and a passion for learning, Curtis is already becoming a valued part of the team.

Before Andrew ever picked up a set of blueprints or led a team, he was learning the basics of building from his father and brother – pouring concrete, swinging hammers, and understanding the value of doing things the right way. Raised in the Midwest, those early lessons in work ethic and craftsmanship stuck with him as his career took shape.

His path led him into the world of hospitality, where he spent over 20 years managing large-scale resort operations for brands like Marriott and Wyndham. A role as General Manager at a Wyndham resort in Hunt, Texas eventually brought him to Kerrville – where his passion for building would come full circle. After overseeing major renovation projects in the resort world, Andrew took the leap into residential construction, founding 3 Twenty One Homes, his own custom homebuilding business right in the heart of the Hill Country.

It was during that time that he began working with Antler Insulation, a company under the same leadership as LCH. What started as a professional relationship quickly became something more – built on shared values, mutual respect, and a strong belief in quality. When the opportunity to join LCH arose, it felt like a natural next chapter.

“For me the most important thing is working with a company that places God first, strives for excellence, leads with integrity, takes care of its people, and values each person’s contribution” Andrew says. With his leadership, hands-on experience, and steady commitment to doing things well, Andrew brings both heart and expertise to the LCH team.

Ben’s journey started in the Houston area and eventually took him west, where he spent over two decades working in the Permian Basin near San Angelo. His career in the oil field taught him the value of discipline and adaptability. But when the oil field industry took a downturn in 2014, Ben saw an opportunity for change and headed to the Hill Country in search of a new direction.

That change came in the form of a paintbrush. Ben launched Premier Painting and More, building a successful residential painting business and becoming one of Lenard Crafted Homes’ most trusted trade partners. Over time, his connection to the team deepened, and what started as a working relationship eventually led to something more lasting.

Ben’s path to LCH began with a paintbrush, but it was a deeper sense of purpose that ultimately led him to join the team. Today, he serves in a dual role as Project Manager at LCH and General Manager of Antler Painting. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, Ben plays a key part in helping other project managers and paint trade partners deliver quality finishes that bring each home to life.

For Ben, it’s the people that make the work meaningful. “Internally, I get to work alongside an incredible team. Externally, I love connecting with new trade partners and clients- it’s the relationships that make this work truly meaningful.”

From a young age, Chris was immersed in the world of construction- learning firsthand the value of craftsmanship, hard work, and doing things the right way. His father, a general contractor, became both a mentor and role model, sparking in Chris a lasting passion for hands-on work, creative problem-solving, and the deep satisfaction that comes from building with purpose.

After high school, Chris’s path led him into college- but it wasn’t long before he felt called to something greater. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he spent several years developing not just technical skills, but resilience, leadership, and a deep respect for structure and accountability. Serving his country gave Chris a broader perspective, and his time in uniform instilled a work ethic and sense of responsibility that continue to guide him today.

Following his service, Chris entered the highly specialized field of nuclear power plant inspection- a demanding career that required precision and focus. Even as his expertise grew, Chris was drawn back to the Hill Country. After marrying and starting a family, he made the intentional decision to return to Kerrville, where he could raise his children in the same close-knit community that shaped him.

After returning to Kerrville, Chris launched Coffee Custom Homes, LLC, building a reputation for craftsmanship and integrity. Over time, his connection to Lenard Crafted Homes grew, grounded in shared values and a passion for quality work.

Now serving as a Project Manager at LCH, Chris brings decades of experience, leadership, and a strong sense of purpose to every build. What does he enjoy most? “Working with a great team of people from all kinds of backgrounds- everyone is eager to learn, and just as willing to share what they know.”

When Paul moved to Kerrville, he didn’t just step into a new town – he stepped into a community that would eventually feel like home. Over the next ten years, he worked as a sales representative at two of Kerrville’s busiest lumberyards, becoming a trusted resource for builders and homeowners alike.

During that time, Paul built a strong relationship with the Lenard family. What began as professional support on home builds grew into something more personal- grounded in trust, shared values, and a mutual respect for craftsmanship. So when the opportunity arose to join Lenard Crafted Homes, it felt like a step that felt right. “I believe in what they’re doing,” Paul says. “I want to be part of the journey.”

Now serving in Estimation & Procurement, Paul plays a vital role throughout the building process – from pricing and planning to sourcing materials and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. With a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of the industry, he helps bring clarity,and dependability to every project.

Chief Operating Officer

Before Zack ever led a construction team, he was learning the craft from his father and grandfather. Growing up, Zack spent countless hours helping his grandpa, a retired Air Force veteran who dedicated the last 30 years of his life to custom cabinetry and fine woodworking. His father, who worked in construction during his younger years, also passed down hands-on skills and values that would shape Zack’s approach to building: do it right, do it well, and never cut corners.

Zack moved to the Hill Country in search of a smaller, tight-knit community- one where he could plant roots and grow both personally and professionally. At the time, he was working in public education, first as a high school math teacher, then stepping into leadership as an Assistant Principal. Those years honed his ability to lead teams, navigate challenges, and mentor others- skills that would later translate seamlessly into the construction world.

God planted the seed between Zack and Craig about ten years ago, and over time, their shared values and sense of purpose began to grow. What started as a simple connection evolved into a clear calling- one that ultimately led Zack to join the Lenard Crafted Homes team. His background in education, especially in leadership, equipped him to guide teams, foster strong relationships, and cultivate a culture rooted in integrity and accountability- strengths that now serve him well in his role as Chief Operating Officer.

“My favorite thing about working here is the team that God has brought together- people I get to work alongside every day,” Zack says. “We all come from different backgrounds and bring unique skill sets to the table. It’s incredible to see how well we can serve our clients when we’re working together as such a strong team.”

For Dustin, building homes isn’t just a profession – it’s part of his legacy. Born and raised in Kerrville, and a proud Tivy graduate, Dustin grew up alongside the sounds of saws and framing crews. As the son of Art and Donna Lenard – founders of Lenard Crafted Homes – he was introduced to the craft early, riding shotgun with his dad to job sites and cleaning up sawdust long before he ever held a tool of his own.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2006 with a degree in Construction Science, Dustin returned to the Texas Hill Country and honed his skills as a finish carpenter with Integrity Homes. In 2012, Dustin and his father, Art, officially founded Lenard Crafted Homes- originally known as Art Lenard & Sons. Together, they continued building a legacy rooted in heart, integrity, and expert craftsmanship.

Today, Dustin serves as Co-Owner and Master Craftsman, personally shaping many of the details that define LCH homes. Whether he’s crafting a custom door unit, installing decorative hardwood floors, or building something entirely new, Dustin thrives on the challenge of turning ideas into beautiful, lasting work. Dustin brings a rare blend of hands-on craftsmanship, creative vision, and generational wisdom to every project he leads.

Craig Lenard carries forward the legacy of Lenard Crafted Homes with purpose and vision. As the son of founders Art and Donna Lenard, Craig grew up immersed in the world of custom homebuilding and the faith-based values that have guided the company from the beginning – integrity, craftsmanship, and a commitment to people.

Before joining the family business, Craig served as an agricultural science teacher at Boerne ISD, where he developed a passion for leadership and mentorship. In 2018, he felt a calling to transition from education to construction and began working alongside his father at Lenard Crafted Homes, contributing his skills and heart for service to the company’s mission.

Today, as CEO, Craig is focused on continuing the mission of building not just high-quality, healthy homes – but also strong, lasting relationships with every family served. He leads with intentionality, driven by a vision that blends legacy, excellence, and Kingdom-minded business practices.

In 1982, Art Lenard began what would eventually become more than a business- it became a ministry. What started as a simple joy in building something beautiful from the ground up grew into a lifelong pursuit of excellence, purpose, and faith. For Art, creating homes was never just about wood and stone. It was about people. It was about legacy. Lenard Crafted Homes was built on the belief that a home should be more than a structure- it should be a reflection of intentionality, health, and enduring craftsmanship.

But deeper still, Art saw each home as a way to serve others and fulfill a greater mission: to be the hands and feet of Jesus in every interaction, on every job site, and through every relationship formed along the way. From the earliest projects to the most luxurious custom homes built today, LCH has remained grounded in a vision of Kingdom-building. Art’s leadership shaped the company into one that not only delivers world-class, energy-efficient, and healthy homes, but also cultivates deep trust, care, and ministry-minded service.

“I’ve always believed our job was not only to build homes, but to build relationships,” Art shares. “Every client, every subcontractor, every conversation- it’s all an opportunity to reflect Christ.” Through decades of leadership, Art’s greatest joy has always been witnessing the finished home- watching the joy it brings to the families who walk through the doors. And while LCH has grown, Art’s heart remains rooted in ministry. He believes that even in custom homebuilding, God opens doors to share love, faith, and sometimes even salvation.
